I'm going to be in Sarasota for a couple of weeks. My brother and I will be working at our kid's wooden swords and shields booth at a Medieval Festival there. Not having been there before, I should have fun sightseeing during our days off. The weather has to be better there than here in Michigan. smile

Halloween was a little disappointing this year. Every year I look forward to handing out candy to the little beggars, but this year I don't think I had half as many as I had last year. Zeriah was right, I think. It was too cold last night for the kids to be out. Another thing I noticed was that the trick-or-treaters didn't get out until...

Crummy SNOW! And on the 12th of October for pity sake! I don't need to bust out the snow shovel yet, but it sure is depressing to look at all of that miserable white stuff. My daughter in Oz might miss it, but I never look forward to it.

Now, it has it's place, during the Christmas and New Year's holidays, but that's it!

Why,...

I spent the weekend with my brother and sister working our booth at a little renfair in Fishers, Indiana, down by Indianapolis. It was a wonderful crowd, and I enjoyed myself immensely. Despite dire weather forecasts, we had beautiful weather. The sky was sunny and blue, and the temperature was in the 70's both days. The only time we ran into rain and hail was...

It's the last day of summer, and another chilly one at that. This time I got a fire going in the fireplace without smoke billowing throughout the house. Nice!

So far, I haven't been bothered by bats since opening up the fireplaces. Of course, with the cooler weather, they aren't as active. Come next Spring, I'll have to block the fireplaces off again. I hope...

Yeah! It's too early in the season to turn on the furnace, because the utility company charges an arm and a leg for natural gas. I like to keep my bedroom cool, but last night--Brrrr!!

My current boyfriend of 2 years does have a job mate, he's paid more per hour than I am, but unfortunately he has an ex wife and three little ones of his own so child support takes a huge chunk out of our monthly bill paying money ($675 to be exact) so we struggle quit a lot even though he and I make decent money. Kids complicate things a lot more than people think. He's been loyal and paying child support for over three years, wish I could say the same about my baby's father.

Last Monday it was a little chilly, so I decided to have a fire in the fireplace. Cough! Cough! Needless to say, I had more smoke in the house than up the chimney. Eventually I got the damper to open all the way, but the house still smells like a cabin in the far north woods. Not that that's all bad. It smells better than...

More excitement!

Today while I was walking my dog, Happy Scrappy, we were stalked by a pit bull, a BIG pit bull. Why some neighbors can't tie up their dogs blows my mind. The pit bull followed us for half a block while the owner feebly ran after him calling him back. Meanwhile, I was dragging my dog off by his leash as fast as...

Duel at Dusk

Last night while sipping sake and watching anime on the old TV, I noticed a flicker of shadow on the wall and then the beast itself. It was a bat! How it got into the house I don't know because I'd blocked off the fireplaces, but there it was anyway!

I've had bats in the house before, and usually I use a...

I had a great weekend and finally learned why it's so hard for me to find a woman. We had a family reunion and celebrated my uncle's 80th birthday. All of us enjoyed ourselves and consumed great quantities of beer for three days. There were hundreds of us from all over the globe, and I met cousins I barely remembered because I'd gone off to...

Wisdom and despair

Are inseparably bound

In a sip of beer.
