OK, fair warning... this is a bit of a sad tale, but it'll make me feel better to write about it. if you want to skip this journal entry I will understand...
My grandmother is dying. She was diagnosed with lung cancer about 2 months ago. Everything was going well, or so I thought, and then I get back from my weekend trip to find out that the cancer has begun to advance very rapidly. The doctors give her about 2 more days to live. I don't have anyway to get down to see her, she lives in Florida, but I was able to talk to her briefly on the phone. She sounded so tired, frail and old. Not at all like my grandma, but it was her. I got to tell her I loved her one last time and that Kim was very glad that she got to meet her last summer. She seemed happy to talk to me and apparently was very lucid compared to how she's been the past few days. My aunt, uncles and mother are all there with her, which I'm glad for, but I wish I could be there too. I want to be able to hug her and tell her I love her in person. I'm sad to see her go and I don't want to lose her, (she's been very important in my life) but I think she's ready to go and be with my grandfather who passed away quite a while ago. I've already cried for about 45 minutes after I got off the phone with her and I think I've accepted things now. I'll still miss her though. I'll still have all of the great memories to hold onto and I'll cherish them always (even the ones where she used to scare us by not putting in her dentures).
So this journal entry is dedicated to my grandmother,
Katherine Keeney, I love you and I'll miss you Grandma.

My Grandfather is going through the exact same thing. He's so drugged up that he has no idea what is going on. He had so many great stories I too will miss him very much.
