I went running on the trail today. I was off in my own little antisocial world when I noticed two women up ahead. The one had a blue bandana on her head and the obvious look of someone undergoing chemo. As I approached, I expected them to be having a heavy conversation (yeh, I eavesdrop), but they were talking about chairs being delivered and how they were delivered and whatever nonsense you can say about chairs. I was so prepared for this glimpse into adversity, so ready to confront the obvious, but they were talking about chairs. It seemed absurd to me. I felt robbed.
