This is the first time I've used this thing... mayhap I'll start doing so more often... but I don't think anyone will actually read it. Fuck it.
I was just outside having a smoke, and I was thinking about some things I'd like to do art wise. Various people I'd like to draw or paint... nothing special really... just some things I'd like to do as practice, and begin to develop some things to maybe put something into a gallery. I've been thinking more and more that I'd really like that.
Ashley, my best friend, turned girlfriend, now defacto ex would always say, "well that's really hard blah blah" and go on to say that she didn't think I could do it, which pisses me off. I think I'm going to do it out of spite. I've seen the shit they put in the galleries down here, and by all accounts, they don't appear to be very picky. I think I'd like to do just to fucking prove her wrong. This was quite some time ago that it came up, but suddenly I find that I'm pretty bitter about it. Oh well.
My first idea includes my friend Sean, quite possibly leaping or being sent through the air somehow. Sean is somewhat large, so I'm not sure exactly how well this will work out. I've never seen the guy jump. I'm concerned that the only way I'll get the shot I need is to build some sort of catapult. The reason I need to launch the poor guy to what could quite possibly be his doom is I want a photographic reference. I would like it to look right. But anyway, I'm going to to paint this picture of him, possibly on a wooden block, and I want the background to be red, with palm trees and shit way in the background, which shouldn't be too hard, cause they're everwhere. Pretty much the rest of it will just be black. No values or anything... somewhat minimalistic, and pop art-ish. It will be entitled I'm Awesome, Sean's favorite thing to say.
And yes, it's true. He is.
The other things I'd like to do are less complicated. They pretty much invovle finding whoever I can to pose for me and then painting or drawing them. But it takes me awhile to paint shit, so I would probably just take photos.
There's more to it than just drawing them doing whatever. I'm usually against just painting some fucking picture or something you see, so I want these to be moving in some way. Through composition, and color usage, the pose, etc, I want to invoke some kind of feeling... most of which will probably be fairly depressing things, like sadness, or vulnerability. For some reason people are generally more moved by shit like that, and let's face it, I'm not the kind of person who's going to paint the heartwarming story of a retard overcoming adversity.

I do in fact go to First Friday, when I can. Sometimes it's a bitch... but this reminds me... tomorrow is First Friday!
I'll have to check out Wet Paint. Thanks for the heads up.
