Well, I am officially single again. I have mixed feelings about the prospect, but maybe that's just because I spent 4 years with the same woman...
I'm looking forward to retiring from the fire department-- the beauracracy is killin' me-- but I'm scared shitless about not having a job. I've been working my ass off to get my portfolio together (and having a lot of fun doing it), but I'm not real sure where my market is gonna be. Hopefully my website will get some good traffic, once it's launched. I need to finish 3-4 more major works before I'll be comfortable setting it up, though.
I did manage to consolidate some ideas for a series on the 7 Deadly Sins that I've been kicking around for a while. I really don't have a shortage of material; I have the compositions done for 4 of the 7 sins, I have the 4 Horsemen series that I'm working on (just need the canvasses now-- 4' x 5' frames are expensive), and my kid suggested that I do the Knights of the Round Table-- all of them, each with his own picture. That should be a pretty cool project...
But now I'm rambling. I have a model coming over on Tuesday-- she's amazing, and I'd try to hook up with her if I wasn't hiring her to work for me-- so I'l finally get to work on drawing from life, up close, instead of sitting in public drawing people as they walk by, lol. Life is art, and Art is life, for the next several months... and hopefully it will all work out.
