Ok, so here it goes: For the past few days I have worked 12-12 hours each day. Tomorrow finally looks to be a normal 9 hour day. I think. I'm not getting my hopes up yet. Good news is the newspaper was finished a day early so I CAN relax afterall. I'm sending the editors home at noon because they worked late too. 5 of my Marines were promoted Monday. 5!!! I am so proud of them... you might not understand. Promotions in the Corps are taken a bit more seriously than in the civilian workforce. Yes, they get paid more. But good god it's like being accepted into a whole new world every time. You get a lot more responsibility, but so much more respect each time. I honestly don't know what it feels like firsthand, as I only joined a year and 4 months ago. I still have 8 months until I make 1st lieutenant. But when I do, hopefully I'll get to share in some of the wealth. Maybe the other officers will get me drunk. I don't know. Maybe I'll be over there in the big sandbox overseas. That would be the best promotion ever. To pin on those silver bars during a fucking war. THAT is a story I could tell my kids one day (if I ever have them). Heh. It's late isn't it? I look forward to seeing all of you (except that wanker daze) Saturday. It's been too long in my book. Now to make up for lost time...
