You ever wonder about the 1st person to do anything?

Take smoking for example. Someone had to sit down and think to themselves. "Ya know, life is good. The bison are coming any day now. The birds are singing. The weather couldn't be better. I wonder if the day would be any better if I took this plant out of the ground, stuck it in my mouth, and lit it on fire? Let's find out!"

I mean some things you can kinda understand. I'm sure the 1st person to try wine just didn't want to waste juice that had been sitting around for too long.

I have a friend who insists that the whole reason for civilization is beer. Someone tried some fermented wheat, thought to themselves "Wow, we got some good @#% here! If I stuck around here for a while I could grow more of this wheat stuff." Thusly, agriculture was invented, leading to civilization . . . and eventually Nerf.

Personally I don't think that's the case at all. Beer couldn't be the cause for civiliization. I'm pretty sure it was the #1 factor in human technological evolution. Laziness. "Wow, hunting and gathering is so hard. Walk. Hunt. Walk. Hunt. Take these four legged beasties here. Boy are they stupid. They just moo & wait to be killed. I'll bet if I just sat around here didn't eat as many cows as there were baby cows coming out I could eat all I wanted without having to lift a finger." This led to modern civilization, also known as The Dorito Era.
