My Outlook on these Subcultures, Scenes, and Fads in my Area.

Im from woodbridge, South of DC. The main scene kids are into is shitty screamo, they go to fake venues that are orginally bar an grills. and have some shitty screamo band claiming to be hardcore, run up there decked out in flared pants and complete with a filthy combover. The kids go there like every weekend, its like the new mall. Its disgusting, the music is super dull, if everyone is into it. Espically since it lacks real hardcore, and is just a bunch of indie bands that break out in a huge 1min scream in the middle of the show, no melody. and these kids definitly have no variety. and nothing of a real scene, but just a faze of music, bad since of straight edge, and too many X's typed in thier screen names. It's like the big Poke'mon phenomana, except worste cuz these are all annoying as fuck.

The rap scene is still everywhere, and hasnt changed in 5 years. Still big cloths, fake bling, and a bad since of reality. Half these fux, that live around me, live in single family homes, yet still try to go to the ends of the streets blasting thier beats, and claiming how thier hard and are from the Bronx. Is'nt it strange how music can form a person? These fake rappers, will hardly let themselves laugh and kid around cuase thier too busy attempting to be "hard" 24/7 to prove to themselves that thier gangstas like thier idols Chamillionaire, and Jay-Z. I could see a good rap scene in the City, but not in the suburbs, they should stick to listening to it and not attempting to be it. And i hate how all the rappers go rap about how thier extremely tough and had a hard poor life, when some of them were born into fame, and all lie for a stage act.

The metal scene is weird, the screamo kids still attempt to alter thier genre name, as metalcore, hardcore...basically anything from what it is, which is screamo. So its hard to look at the kids who are really into metal, but most of em' are rednecks that listen to Kotton Mouth Kings, System of a Down, Slipknot and basically anything from our only rock station in the area, DC101. They all tend to chill by the mall and act like they stand for something besides, bad weed, and a Jnco jeans.

The Punk scene, is kind of small in woodbridge, but as you drive the 20mins to DC, it gets bigger. There are a few mostly punk venues in DC. Such as Electric Maid, in Takoma, South DC, towards Baltimore. And theres the U-Turn on U-Street, DC. And theres 9:30 Club, Nations, and Black Cat, which ussually play varietys of bands. Although the black cat has been leaning towards Indie and Emo'ish bands more often. Most the punk kids, see the same shows, cause not more then once, every two or three months do, big Punk bands from the UK or Cali play. Which is weird, like alot of them will play Baltimore and skip DC, which i havent figured out why, yet. But yea so the Local Punk Hardcore bands, (Group36, Goons, VPR, Screws, Twats, Common Enemy, Vexed Youth, etc.) Play at those Venues maybe once to twice a month, so most the scene go to those, or house shows in the suburbs. When the Casualties or something plays 9:30 theres ussually a big crowd. I've noticed alot of the alternative teens like to hang out in Georgetown, DC. Where Smash records, and stores like Commander Salamander are at.

The Rave scene, doesnt seem like its too big compared to other major cities. Theres Nations Club, where everyone goes to Rave and do Ex and other Pyscadelic drugs, and play with glowsticks. But besides that place, i'm not sure where they all go.

The Industrial scene, seems like its growing in DC, with the cyberpunks and pinapple heads. They go to the Raves, and go to some of the same venues, as the punk scene. With bands like Gwar, Terrofact, and Ministry touring every now and then, alotta of em go hit those shows up. And thier all into goin to the AMA, anime conventions that happend periodically in the area. Alot of em go to Richmond as well.

The real hardcore scene is a little larger then the Punk Scene, in Woodbridge. But an ok size, they go to some of the local shitty venues as the screamo kids, but mostly just fight, do hard drugs and spray paint in the area. In richmond its alot bigger.

The Emo scene, is enormous, espically amoung chicks around here. They all go buy thier big sunglasses, and shitty bead necklases and wonder around Georgetown or other areas, with thier expenisive photography equipment that daddy bought them, and thier vanilla lattes from starbucks in thier sad attempt to look classy and sophisticated.

The prep scene is probably 2nd largest in the area, where they all play beer pong, and drink Natural Light out of thier little red cups. and they all wear those stupid Corona Branded Cowboy hats. They are either attempting to look like surfers, with pre-ripped jeans and starched polos, or thier attempting to look country with thier cowboy hats and belt buckles, or their frat kids, who are chubby and where gross sandles and have the "90's flipped up in the front prep cut".

And thats my writing on the kids, scenes, and subcultures in my area.
