The weather the past few days, days since Katrina, has been indescribably wonderful. Maybe she felt guilty for all the havoc she wreaked, but wowevery day has been sunny, blue and upper 70s, low 80s, and nice and cool at nite. I have nothing to say about Lady K that hasnt already been said and shown in utterly unnerving images. May the good folks down along the Gulf return to normalcy in their lives as quickly as possible.
Summer went by in the blink of an eye. Amazing. There was a ton going on. Work was insane- I traveled to our offices in Chicago 4 times in the space of 6 weeks. Managed to squeeze the main vacation in between the last trips.
The surf photo in the previous shot was from a quick sojourn to the OBX in late July. Took the youngster down for his first taste of surfing. We had a blast, but I havent surfed since I was a teenagerI forgot its f-ing hard work! At least when you havent been doing it in something like 25 years!
In August, the older lad and I headed out West. We joined a Sierra Club group for a service project in the Medicine Bow National Forest in So. Wyoming. Did trail maintenance in the Platte River and Encampment River Wilderness areas. Managed to wet a fly line or two as well.
A couple of pics below. It is gorgeous. The first day as we set up camp, a thunder storm and hail hit us. After it cleared, we had a double-rainbow and the rest of the trip was grand. Lucky Leprechauns we were.
A couple of pics below and more in the folder.
Well, thats it in a nut shell. Hope you all are doing well. Peace to you and yours.
