This song has popped up several times the past few days in my various streams. No particular reason I suppose, but those of us of a certain age all have our lists of friends departed.
I remember when this song came out and just being dumb struck. So raw and unapologetic. No frills whatsoever. Jim Carroll was truly the genius junkie poet. If you haven't READ Basketball Diaries, you should (forget the movie). And finding this video with Jim and Lou Reed together is NYC Karma at its finest.

this is such an amazing song and I hear it on 1st wave on Sirius Satellite now and again
