Happy Father's Day to all you Dads past, present and future. My old man taught me a lot. He overcame a ton of health-related adversity and a shitty upbringing to make family the most important thing in his life. At the age he is in this photo (not sure exactly- but in his 20s in the mid 1950s) he looks so young. His life is still in front of him and I wonder what he sees. I never saw him like this. He was the most loving parent you could ask for but he was always focused on being sure we would "be OK" if he wasn't around. The twist to it all is that he ended up outliving my mom by 12 years. There are no certainties!
