I was supposed to go camping at Assateague Island State Park this weekend, but on Friday the weather report was showing 40 mph winds and coastal flooding from a Nor'easter. It's one thing if it dumps on you once you are there, but to purposely proceed into the face of such weather is kinda like spittin' into the eye of Mother Nature and, well...let's say I ain't as young as I used to be and maybe have learned a thing or two? Then again...

Anyway, this time of year always makes me yearn for Deutschland. The 9 months I spent in Munich back in the 80s included the 3 weeks of Oktoberfest, and needless to say I availed myself of numerous opportunities. To console myself I made a pilgrammage to the warehouse liquor store across the river in VA and purchased a case or so of various German and Belgian brau. Ah, a tall Hefeweizen is truly a gift from the gods.

So after the sucky Friday/Saturday weather, today turned out to be f-ing gorgeous. Spent much time in the yard...the compost pile needing tending. Nothing like diggin in the muck. :-)

Hope ya'll have a fantanbulous week. Enjoy the Indian Summer while you can!! ARRR!!! ARRR!!!

thanks smile

there were plenty of fly rods around, I just didn't take any pics of all the fisherman, I should have.

I love Indian Summer. I think it is my favorite time of the year.
German beer is pretty good too.
sorry your camping trip fell thru. Assateague is very pretty.

I miss Joe too.

Fortunately he lives on in our hearts...and on YouTube.

A soulful performance with the Mescaleros.

Here's to Joe!!

Prosit!
