Found about a half dozen of these guys/gals on my bronze fennel plant this evening. If all goes well they'll turn into Black Swallowtails in the not too distant future. :-)

I finished building this herb spiral bed today. Will be planting it over the next couple weeks. It is right outside the back door- so will be very handy for fresh herbs once I get them planted and established.

Christmas day here in NC was rather mild- mid 50s, partly sunny. Gave me and the boy, home from Denver, a chance for some father/son bonding with a good old-fashioned country fire to dispose of the brush pile that had accumulated over this past year.
