Well, I guess I could tell you about my life lately...
I went back to work after having been away for a month and our first day back was a "sports/fun" day. That was all kinds of cool, as we got to play ultimate frisbee and beach volleyball and I'm apparently pretty good at both of those things.
Either that or everyone else just sucks.
So yeah, the best part of sports day is that once you've been outside in the sun all day, they bring you in for a big old fashioned BBQ! And then give you free beer. This made for a pretty decent first day back at work.
Early dismissal: 1445ish
So then I had a whole weekend ahead of me to deal with, that was fun.
Friday night was... Well it was Petawawa on a Friday. I started out at a friend of a friends house, which is always a bit strange, but whatever. Got a pile of cider downrange and headed off to the bar, where I quickly got separated from everyone I came with (which was fine because I hardly know them), and fell in with a crowd of new people (which is always fun).
Then the strangest thing happened; I met a girl who claimed to know me. From over ten years ago. This kind of thing happens to me all the fuckign time, and I really wish it would stop, it drives me nuts. She went on a double date with me and a friend of mine back in 2000. I actually had to ask her if she was my date or the other guy's. Thankfully she was with the other guy at the time. We got interrupted well before i could figure out which of her friends I was on the date with, though, and I made a hasty escape. Right out of the bar.
Proceeded to go over to my BFF's place and catch up after having been away for a month and a bit. This was ten times more fun than the bar.
Saturday I woke up on a couch, and immediately remembered why I don't like to do that. Went on with my day, did a bit of shopping and then went back to the BFF's place for her boyfriend's birthday.
I should mention that I know him far better than I know her, but that (though he's definitely my best friend up here) she gets the title of BFF because we're closer in age, and I needed something easier to say than "My best friend's girlfriend, who is also pretty cool, and in whom I confide regularly".
So anyways I go over to their place for a party on Saturday night, and realise I have to drive home, so stay relatively sober and somehow manage to have an okay time.
Okay time. Not a good time, or a great time; just okay.
"Why?" You might ask, "Do you need to be drunk to have fun?"
The answer, dear friends, is far simpler; there was country music. Fuck. I hate country music more than nearly anything out there. I hate it more than racism, starvation, and homophobia combined. I hate it more than AIDS. So yeah, country music ruined Saturday.
Sunday was pretty chill, though, I can't remember doing anything at all, so I'll just assume that I slept all day. Prepared my dress uniform for parade practice on Monday, at some point, though. Here's a pic from that:
Monday was parade practice in the morning, and a haircut in the afternoon... Dismissal time: 1300ish
And Tuesday was the actual parade, followed by more free drinks. Dismissal time: 1320ish,
More on that later, as I think we're getting way better pics from it tomorrow.
