So a new day, or at least some period of wakefullness following a period of sleep. Working the night shift, my definition of 'day' tends to be pretty loose, particularly when I decide to go 24+ hrs without sleep. If I ignore the calander, maybe it will ignore me.
Christmas has passed, and New Years right around the corner. Christmastime has always been a good time for me, as I get to spend some time with the family. Course, it means 'debates' into the wee hours of the morning with my dad.. but these are the things I miss from my childhood. And now that I actually start to have a policital/philisophical position not directly inherited from my dad, they're oh so much more interesting *grin*.
Every year about this time, I find myself making all kinds of promises to myself that next year will be different.. I'll excersise more, I'll eat less, I'll keep on top of things, rather than always operating in reaction mode. Yeah, I know its new years, and everyone makes resolutions, and then keep them to greater, or lesser extent.. at least for the fires few days of the new year. But Its such a tempting time to make these self declarations.
Too bad that if it takes something like new years to get you to make them, its not likely they'll work. I mean, if it takes a once-a-year holiday to get you to even make the decision, how can you hope to follow up on it all the rest of 'not new years' days that follow? I dunno.. but Im still making promises, and who knows.. maybe this year really WILL be different. I can only hope (and excerise, and diet, and ....
Doesnt help of course that here in oh so *NOT*sunny ohio, the days have been rather grey and wet, which does nothing for the melancholy of post-holiday blues.
But, enough of my drearyness.. no point in bumming out anyone stumbling across my journal. Tonight Im back at work, unrelentingly guarding the wellbeing of my small part of the vast beast that is the internet. Fun and excitement for all.
