You wanna know how I can tell summer's finally arrived? I helped the first of what's bound to be a slew of ungrateful slobs I call friends move tonight, that's how. There's nothing that says summer more than getting sweaty moving mattesses and box springs up and down three flights of stairs, let me tell ya...

Anyway, this friend I helped move tonight thinks I should move to her home town of St. Louis to bag me a mod girl. I gotta admit, I do have a soft spot for them. I've got an even bigger one for her best friend from high school, though, who still lives there. Damn near the most perfect girl I've ever met.

Oh, and here's a question for ya'll: are hipsters and fanboys the only people who use the terms hipsters and fanboys? I know my profile tells you to fuck off if you try and put me in a box, but I find myself using those expressions often and notice that no one else who I don't consider hipsters or fanboys uses them at all.

Thoughts?

ha!! i am totally with you on the summer=moving peoples stuff

i am a bit of a hipster, and a total fanboy and i try not to use either term to often, because i don't want to sound like a hipster or a fanboy

the comic book store near me is cute but has no selection

Fanboy is a legitimate term, hipster is a tough one because its often egregious. Most of em are just yuppies who like indie music. Hipsters download all major label music for free, but shell out at concerts for cds of struggling bands. Yuppie hipsters download all the "cool" indie stuff, but shell out for Jay-Z and the new Smashing Pumpkins. Hipsters have 2 levels to their wardrobe, salv-army and a couple of dress outfits. Nothing consisting of jeans and a t-shirt can cost you more than $30, if it does, you unfortunately are a yuppie. You also have to stand for things You can be a beatnik, or a hippie, but hipster is just what a lot yuppies tried to call themselves for a few years to throw us off their trail.

I live among them, but I am not one of them.
