The birthday dinner was a succes I think. We boht stuffed ourselves which is pretty impressive because i cooked the meal. Yes you read that right; I COOKED. Shrimp scampir over pasta. MY lady love helped only by giving me directions. The rest of the time she tried to help I kicked her out of the kitchen and told her to look at hot naked chicks while I did the work. Despite the plethora of naked goodness she still kept trying to sneak into the kitchen to do some of the work for me. I did alright, the shirmp I thought could have been warmed up more but the noodles came out great and the sauce also did really well. We had garlic bread on the side and the whole meal was VERY filling. I was going to take her out somewhere but money was an issue, however, I simply couldn't do nothing. I thought and thought and thought and realized that dinner really was the best choice but to make it lost and special i should cook it myself. Afterall, I never have cooked dinner before for us so I felt that would be the best compromise. Besides cooking dinner yourself is better than just going somewhere anyday.

So apparently David Lettermen made a boo-boo. Now I support Free Speech 100% so I'm not going to say that what he did was wrong because it wasn't. He has every right to joke about whatever he wants but this is David Lettermen and i think we expect better of him. But instead of going on the warpath can't we just say "Hey Dave you went too far" and leave it that? Does Sarah Palin really have to go on the air and on the internet attacking him and calling him names? No she doesn't. In my mind there are really three key issues here: One, Sarah Palin's 14 year old daughter getting pregnant regardless of who the father is. Any teenage pregnancy is no laughing matter but a child whose family is in the public spotlight just makes that matter even more so. Two: Sarah Palin is an outspoken advocate of "Abstinence Now." a very contrversial program in and of itself. Now that two of her teenage daughters have gotten pregnant it doesn't look good for her political career. Three: Sarah has learned a very painful and embarrassing lesson and that fact that it's public record just rubs salt in the wound.

As a political figure or a celebrity your life becomes public record. Everyone wants to know what you're doing, where you're doing it and who you'r doing it too. In today's day and age though, the worse they can make you look the better. For someone like Sarah Palin, former Vice Presidental candidate and head of Abstinence Now having two underage daughters becoming pregnant is basically a dagger in your political image. Good politician or not her integrity is going to be questioned because of this. The real issue though is that a very harsh reality check has just hit her like a ten pound sledgehammer. I'm certain she once believed that abstinence was an easy thing to teach and follow. Now she has not only one, but two examples that children can not be controlled by simple "moral imperatives." For Sarah Palin the issue has hit home and what she once backed has been torn to shreds. As a parent myself I can sympathize. My child is no where near the teenage years but how would I feel if she came home at 14 years of age and told me she was pregnant? You can think (as I'm sure Sarah Palin once thought) that this is an issue that affects primarily the teenagers who got pregant but this is really a whole family issue. Sarah Palin has just foudn this out the hard way, will she learn from it? Maybe, maybe not but doesn't she have more important things to worry about than who is making jokes about her? I think she's got several more important things and one more on the way.
