For those of you who don't already know I own a digital camera that costs about $100. I've ben wanting to shoot photsets with it but the pictures come out, well less than professional. I used to always tell myself that it's just because I own a cheap camera but lately I've ben wondering more and more is it my camera or is it me? So today I decided to do some experimenting with some things we have on our dresser to see if i could take a quality picture with my $100 camera.
I started by flipping the switch on my camera that is supposed to be the difference between closeup and far away. I wasn't sure which was which so i just took pictures with the switch in both modes close up and far away and then checked them out to see what happened. This is what happened:

I noticed that the flash was also having an effect. I wasn't too sure of all the factors that influence picture quality when using a flash so I just stuck with "on" and "off.":

In the end I decided that the flash on my camera was just too damn bright for close up pictures but my camera couldn't take close up pictures without some kind of light source. The camera has a spotlight on it but its also too bright and too small. I decided to improvise and took a lamp we had lying around and pulled the shade off of it. It was a 10w CFL bulb but it did help tremendously:

Unfortunately it had a cord on it so it wasn't the most portable but it shed some light on how to make my photos look better. Keep in mind these are unaltered peices but don't be afraid to tell me what you think. I'm wondering if I should buy a portable lamp and some higher watt bulbs and use that instead of the flash on all my indoor pictures. Maybe it'll help and maybe it won't but I'll have a lot of fun trying!
P.S. You asked for them, you got them! This is what I look like now.
