Remember how stoked people were when they saw THE PHANTOM MENACE trailer back in 98? And once the movie came out people were like WHAT? Not all fans were on board after ep.1 But we all wanted ep 2 & 3 to be better. To be honest ALL are involved with why the prequels didn't work. The fans, Lucas's writing, Lucas's directing, the acting, and all the hype. It's been 10 years since the prequel trilogy. With all the EU books, comics, cartoons, canon and non-canon stuff, fan fiction, etc, hopefully fans have learned their lesson. Just wait for ep. 7, it just may be worth the wait.

True, he didn't ruin Darth Vader but making a movie with good acting and production value isn't catering to an old fan base or trying to recreate the originals, it's just trying to make a good quality movie.

@soraleia Episode I was very good, in that we agree. My concern is that the bad reaction around The Phantom Menace was largely a result of ultra high expectations. I see many of the same attitudes towards The Force Awakens and I'm concerned that history will repeat itself.
