So who missed me? I know I missed out on a ton of new sets (including Vanessa!) so I'm going to be catching up and commenting on that tonight. 
Long story - but stick with it and understand what my life is like.
Well, here are my oh, so, futile opinions on this particular voyage. This time I went from Charlottesville, VA to NYC and trust me, it is not a journey that you would like to experience yourself. I should have known things were a little off this morning when I requested the front desk of my hotel call me a cab at 7:45am and there was still no cab to be seen by 8:20am (need I mention that my bus was departing at 8:30am?). So I did what any industrious girl would do - I walked 10 minutes to the train station just about the fastest my little legs would carry me. Got to the train station and the bus was 10 minutes late. Eventually what this led to was the bus arriving at the DC train station at 12:30pm - the train all of us aboard that bus that we were supposed to connect with left at noon. Great. Luckily (or unluckily, I like DC becuase many of my friends live there, I wish I could have stayed the weekend!) I was able to trade in my ticket for the 1:05pm train. But what fresh hell did this hold you wonder? There were no seats aside from riding the whole 4 hour trip in the cafe car, which actually I ended up preferring since I have a whole booth and table to myself, rather than the one seat. Now, of course I couldnt sleep at all on the train, but I got to play music and movies and type up all of this!
I feel like I should say something about what happened to get me to Charlottesville. Im going to begin working towards my Ph.D. in the Fall at UVA, so I had to go to Charlottesville this week to meet my advisor, other students in the program, the dean of the school, get my classes selected, get my name in the payroll and most importantly, find an apt. for the next year at least. Let me tell you, after NYC, this place drove me insane! I never thought that I could miss New York since it is very busy and there is a lot of people everywhere, but I HATE to drive, and I am a city girl, I dont take too kindly to rural areas or as locals described it relaxing. Oh no, this is going to be hard. Plus I dont mind walking everywhere, I mean, come on I did that in Manhattan, but Charlottesville is full of cobblestones and I made the deadly mistake of wearing high heels to walk around in. My feet were not happy campers, so much so in fact, that I took off my shoes and walked eventually, but it was too late the damage had already been done - both my heels were covered in large singular blisters taking up about a quarter of my foot. I did okay fake-walking on my tip toes for a day, but after that I performed blister surgery and poped that big-ass suckers. Walking is much happier now, mainly because I can put my weight back on my heels but also because Im taking lots of ibuprofen.
But I found an apt. at least! Its not really what I was hoping for, but I really dont have a choice after NYC wiped out my savings. The place is a three-story walk up, loft style living arrangement. I have my own bedroom, bathroom and loft, but I have to share a living and dining area and a kitchen with three other roommates. My lease starts July 1st, but since I cant afford movers, Im going to ask the men in my family to help me move and the only time they can all do it is June 19th and 20th. Over all, the place I settled on in Charlottesville is going to set me back about $475 a month, but that includes everything except electric which is $70 a month and cable which is $45 a month. But since this apt. is on the bus line, I wont need a car, although I am seriously considering a Vespa-type vehicle, I dont think I want a motocycle, but maybe a small motorized vehicle of some kind to supplement with my bike and my bus riding. Well see, Im still unfamiliar with the place so it all weirds me out a little bit now, I feel that in a way Im going slightly backwards in my life.
In other news that doesnt involve traveling, I realized from trying on formal dresses this week for my friends wedding in late June, Im a little fatter than usual, so I need to begin a work out reginmen. I already eat really well (come on, Im the person who eats baby carrots like potato chips!) so that doesnt concern me, but I think I may need a little more activity than lyring around in bed and watching TV complaining about being really lazy. The only thing is that I will have to go down to the gym becuase I do not think Ill be able to handle outdoor activity, the thing I really cant take is any more of this summer humidity, I can do dry heat (like TX) but no more humidity, that makes me just run dow n and tired and its so hard to breathe.
Thats really about it from the wonderful world of me. Now its your turn, describe something that happened this week that you did not expect it would - good or bad welcome.
PS: You know I don't like country music - but I am digging the Dixie Chicks new album (or at least 4 songs on it); and I still agree with them, I'm ashamed that Texas is the home of not only Bush but Jessica Simpson - you don't need to play dumb to make a lot of money and the Chicks is a good example of strong, smart, successful women role models. Now... Who left this soapbox around here?
