"Excuse me, I believe you have my identity..."

Yeah, I've fallen victim to identity theft. I realized it the other day when my bank sent me a notice that they were drawing funds for overdraft protection. It's such a bummer. The bank claims that they can't really do much about it anytime soon. It's been sent to their research department. They're looking into it and if they can prove that it wasn't me charging up stuff on the internet, only then can they get those funds back into my account. So in the meantime, I've cancelled my debit card. I asked my banker if it's safe to deposit funds. They said that it should be fine. I didn't really want to, but I did so I could write my rent check. At the bank, the teller was click, clicking away and then asks me if I'd like to apply for their credit card because she noticed I was overdrawn. I declined and explained to her that it was only because of identity theft and that it was being worked out. Turns out that all that click, click, clicking she was doing was adding on a bunch of overdraft fees. I know this because I checked my bank account online immediately before and after my trip to the bank. Thank you Wells Fargo! It all makes me want to keep my money in a sock under my mattress with booby traps. mad

its because of these 'friendly' overdraft 'protection' that i've resorted to buying money orders to pay bills, and taking out all of my spending money for the next two weeks in cash on payday.

Banks are lame

Nope - I think that's the one Nixon has on her blog right now. Royksopp's better known for this:
I was linking to a live version of that same song that has a VERY CONSPICUOUS COWBELL at 2 minutes in.
