POWER OF WORDS.
Accountability; a powerful word. Words have become so powerful and are taken so literally that their impact on others can have severe consequences. With the degrees and definitions of words being so absolute; they have become weapons, used to attack people and define them in the minds of others. Is it possible to foresee all outcomes of what we say, before we speak? Do you believe what you hear, or do you find out the truth before you let it define how you act toward others? Do people define you by what they hear? One of the hardest personal struggles we face is who's opinion matters, and who's does not. Often we are swayed by what others will think. Sometimes this is a good thing and other times it can limit us and stop us from being who we are. People of all walks of life are "QUOTED" as saying... and are often vilified for what they say, even when their comments are taken out of context. Emotional influences and our present feelings play a part in how and what we will say at any given time. I agree we are accountable for what we say, but the words alone do not define the ideas behind our voice. The situation must be taken as a whole if an accurate assessment can be made as to our meaning and our opinion. We can not forget as well, that we live in a free society, and freedom is allowing someone their voice even if it's the opposite of ours. The power of words runs both ways. Words can hurt peoples feelings and have a negative effect on their lives; words can heal that hurt and bring upon a positive outcome as well. It's no longer actions speak louder than words, both carry weight and care must be taken with each.
