They're still finding bodies in New Orleans from Katrina. This weekend, they found the body of a little girl while clearing (bulldozing?) a house.
They found 6 bodies, I think, last week.
Almost 7 months later...
nocturnos:
unfortunately, i feel as if they'll be finding people for a long time to come... it's really sad. there will always be some kind of reminder arising..

My roommate's going to Austin tomorrow to check out us moving there. I've never been but will move anyway if they do. Hope it's lovely. Hope it's cool. Hope it has character. Hope I find my place there because my heart will be grieving for New Orleans. But I don't want to live alone..

See? I knew you'd pick up on what I meant on my post! biggrin

Just re-read your stats--guess you're right. wink

How could you even think of leaving NOLA? I keep thinking about moving there!

Well, whatever you decide, I hope you are happy. I've been to Dallas, but never to Austin, but I have a friend who lives there and loves it.
pastura:
that was an awesome story. when i read "i was mugged there" i thought, man, this is going to be depressing. but you held your own... even on your back or your front, whichever it might have been! ha ha! good for you. thanks, too, because it upholds my theory that that station is cursed.

ha ha. that's pretty bad. i can't do caffeine because it makes me nuts, especially if i'm just sitting behind a desk. but then again, it has also been the reason for many of my recent poems... hmmm....

i'd definitely recommend NightWatch if you can find it at a theatre nearby. it's great for the big screen. renting would be okay though. great special effects and not too "done" like so many american thrillers.

Botulism - just eating a donated post-katrina can of soup that we got for free. But notice the exp date AFTER a few bites - Sep 03.
If I don't show up tomorrow, you might find me in a hospital somewhere...

Gonna go drink a coke. Maybe that'll kill any critters that aren't supposed to be.

if coke can clean blood off of asphalt, you should be fine...

Sharing your bed: Do you like sleeping with someone, non-sexual? I had to share beds for months after we evacuated. We never touched or anthing, but I loved the warmth and safety of it all.
When I had to go to Houston, alone, I had SO much trouble sleeping in my huge cold empty bed.

I like feeling the energy from the body next to...

Oh Yes, I agree! I used to sleep next to my best friend Shroomy and snuggle up with him all the time, but totally plutonic- cuz I am a lesbian n stuff, but I loved him so much that I just felt confortable doing that... actually, I would have slumber parties often- in my youth 16-20 yo, and we all piled into the bed and snuggled and watched movies & smoked nugs and passed out together 4-5 of us... Super fond memories.... Now that I am older I haven't been snuggling enuf or having nearly enough slumber parties.. With the right people ofcourse... otherwise I am all about personal space wink So I guess it all depends on the person-s involved... Its all about trust and respect... We all need to be touched... lol... confused I am wondering-How come when we get older our (friends or types of friendships change,) to those where we can't just have snuggleparties? blush

love I got touched! love

Vampires in the trees? I wouldn't doubt it. Went on a vampire tour of New Orleans from Haunted History, the same ones who do ghost tours.
I expected a guy with fake fangs - "And here is where they filmed Dracula 2000. And here Lestat..."

Instead we got true criminal history: Murders. Very BLOODY muders, mutilations etc that have happened over the years in New...

ooo, i think i'd take some garlic gum even though there are no vampires in indiana. i just like garlic.

ha, i saw Dracula 2000 in the theatre and enjoyed it as far as those sorts of films go. if you like that stuff, you should check out this russian movie called NightWatch. just came out over here in the US, and i guess it's the most successful russian film ever. neat effects and a decent story, and i'm not usually a fan of fangs... unless they come on wild animals.

dude that sounds like so much fun. i would love to go on something like that. i like being creeped out....

You know, walking down St. Charles at night, I can almost imagine things that are almost human standing on the branches of the big oaks, watching..

There probably are in front of Anne Rice's old house! wink love

I HAVE to go dancing soon, or I'm going to scream. Somewhere dark, where they play the bass loud enough it becomes your heartbeat, where you can taste it. NIN please, or maybe even Dragula. Something where I am transported.

Dig it! I could get down with some boobies and cake.

Yeah, I went back to New Orleans in January... it still looks pretty bad, but I guess it's getting better. All my family is back there still, but they're doing ok.

I'm Bipolar II, they say. I would think it was ADD, but I've studied up on Bipolar for years, and it just sounds too much like me. lol, bipolar lite;D

I have an copy of Dreamhunters autographed by Neil Gaiman. I *love* him. I'd marry him, seriously. And the artwork is just amazing, if I could get Yoshitaka Amano's autograph, I could die a happy girl.
