so, i said i'd piss off from the goth club for a while so's the ex-girlfriend doesn't have to deal with lookin' at me when she goes for her night of fun-dancing which left me with only one other option for dancing on a wednesday night; BLACKOUT BAR at the paradise lounge.
it was supposedly a punk/indie night with DJ's and all that. well, so i go to BLACKOUT BAR (and i'm dressed to the nines in a new pair of pin-striped dress pants that flare out at the bottoms and a near skin-tight t-shirt with Bela-Lugosi-as-Dracula's face screenprinted on it) and holy fucking lame-ass club batman! it totally sucked.
first off, there is nowhere to dance, there are fucking tables everywhere, and wherever you turn there's a dumb too-skinny hipster boy in tight pants (no offense jacob if you are reading this, you are much more stylin' than these clowns! and your not dumb, but you knew that. oh and we should hang out next week).
so's, then a band goes on: THE SPITZ (who actually rocked out major even though they sucked last time i saw them with THE SEX SLAVES at the Choppin' Block at the beginning of the summer). anyway, the band finishes up and i'm thinkin' alright, now there is gonna be some punk tunes and some dancing and it will be fun and the dj plays "glc" by MENACE and i'm thinkin' "right on! old school brit-punk!"
nobody dances or cares.
dj stupidtacular follows that up with a bunch of garbled blasts of hardcore punk and the like. there is no way you can dance to this music (even if you had someplace to dance).
so, tonight was lame.
i was thinkin' fun punk you can dance to, like RUTS or X-RAY SPEX maybe some SLEATER KINNEY and all that.
fuckin' lame.
i miss my most-previous former girlfriend and i miss my favoritest dj in the whole wide world mr. gumbercules. i must never shake my ass to the tunes of an impostor dj again; i feel unclean.

Grrr...I remember the hardcore days of my youth with bodies flying in every direction and all the audience participation with everybody jumping up and down and screaming along. Common in every punk sub-genre, yes, but it was always hardcore around here. There's room for us all...
