He's still out there... Somewhere. His black leather gloves creak as he grasps the knife. Rain drips from the brim of his hat, and falls, like a tumbling crystal, landing on the blade, illuminated by the sickly yellow of the sodium vapour streetlight. He moves forward, and places one gloved hand against the wet glass of the window; his breath mists the glass as he gets right up against it, to peer inside. And she's there. Half naked on a white sofa, she edges back from the silhouette against the window. Outside, the figure sees her fear, and this makes him cruel... He scrabbles at the glass, and raises the knife, and with it, taps against the window. The girl turns away, but light from the street throws his shadow against the wall. She can hear him laughing, and calling out, in a cracked voice, calling out words like: "Here puss, puss puss!" She closes her eyes, briefly, and when she opens them, her tormentor has gone. She lets out a long, shuddering breath. A small noise makes her look at the door to her room. The door... opens...
