its noon on monday and i think i can say that i've recovered from the weekend. what i thought would be kind of chilled out and low-key turned out to be an out and out party fest. can't complain as the weekend was all that a good weekend should be, except for perhaps a happy ending for our protagonist. not that it is something novel or nouveau.
working back in time... sunday was chilled out. played 18 at woodley. that was a real struggle because i blew my wad early and was pretty tired for the back 9 after making a strong showing on the front with a 4-over par 40. it was pretty cool at first because i was sent out by the starter by myself, free to play as fast as i wanted and smoke as much dope as i wanted without looking over my shoulder. i grabbed some pho and rice paper wraps for dinner with elmore leonard as my companion. sunday morning i sent the jitterbug on her way back to sd after we partied saturday nite. too tired to go to the farmer's market, i passed out for a good three hours before waking and making the decision to get my ass out the door and chase a small white ball around a large green field.
woke up saturday with a bit of a hangover after a night of sapphire and wine. dr. bombay is smooth but can hit like a motherfucker. resolved to work it out, i walked to the gym for some chest-triceps lifting. before that i saved a doggie from running into on coming traffic by being johnny on the spot and grabbing its collar before it dashed on to highland ave and almost certain death. i doubt that your typical la driver is going to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting a dog. after my work out i bought a dope new shirt that i ended up wearing that night (thanks to jitterbug's fashion sense and approval of my choice) and had some kick as huevos rancheros from los burritos. if i hit up the gym tonite, i think i may have to get another plate of eggs and beans with some hot corn tortillas. damn i'm hungry!
the afternoon was spent cleaning up the crib, scrubbing the bathroom and then taking a little nap. jitterbug arrived promptly at 9:35 that nite and after doing a little parking dance, we left for the iistix meet in ktown at around 10:30. another good turn out, probably 20 or maybe even 25 heads were there getting drunk on soju and living it up. round midnight we cruised to noho to visit the casa de amor and a little fellowship with the underground. we arrived just in time as wik was about halfway through his set, dropping funky rhythms and kickin beats. good breaks put me in an ass shakin state of mind, so i was happy. israel followed wikkid and dug in the crates for some old school progressive, not really my cup-o-java but iss does have game on the 1's and 2's. dj holly "the hottie" adams of groove radio fame showed up round 2 in the a.m. with a red box of goodies. i was gettin a bit tired and didn't think i had the constitution to stick around for holly's set so we retired to the hollywood hills cafe (yes, the very same cafe where swingers was filmed) for some chamomile and conversation. at one point, michael jackson's "p-y-t (pretty young thing)" was playing and it was funny looking around at all the booths and tables where people were nodding their heads and singing along. it was surreal, almost like in the movie magnolia, when you see the characters mouthing the words as you hear aimee mann's "give up". i could reference all those gap commercials (oops, too late) but fuck the gap and their blaise clothing and fuck the mallification of america. fuck them up their stupid asses.
friday was almost assuredly going to be chilled out. i had like no clean drawers left so after i got home from work and took an hour nap, i went to do my laundry. aren't freshly laundered sheets the best? anyways, when i had just stuck my shit in the drier at around 10 pm i get the call from dambae. he's headed over to silverlake to meet up with some of the fellas since it was his last nite in los angeleeeez before heading up to davis for law school. dried and folded my clothes and rolled to silverlake to this bar called 4100 on sunset. really a nice place, good music ranging from the black eyed peas to motley crue. dambae, johnnies, trick and tonka were there as were celina and her two friends, alice (yes, both had the same name), johnnies was quite the fashion plate, rocking shorts and a tee, completing the ensemble with some adidas gazelle's. good thing we were in silverlake and not the strip or he would've never gotten in. the place started to get REALLY packed by 1 so we decided to pack it in and head over to my place to chill out. some of us weren't done drinking so i popped a bottle of wine. one glass here and one glass there turned into two empty bottles and general drunkedness at 3:30 am. i know tonka and alice have a thing goin on (kind of like teddy pendergrass and mrs. jones) but she kept making eyes at me towards the conclusion of the evening. that made me really uncomfortable as tonka's a good friend to have. any suggestions on what to do when your homie's lady friend is making eyes at you short of announcing your burning desire for homo lovin or talking about how bad your feet smell?

Was she making "eyes" at you or "drunken eyes"
I know I will make out with everyone under the sun when I am a bit inebrieato...
Who exactly is Jitterbug?
