so i'm off to ventura in a little while. first making a stop to surf county line and then heading further up PCH to ventura harbor. i'll be spending the greater part of the weekend at some lame ass organizational behavior seminar. the only thing that i can compare it to are the 3-a-day practices that we had when the team would go away to camp during pre-season high school football. back then we'd get up, have breakfast, practice from 9-12, have lunch, practice from 2-5, eat dinner, and then practice till it got too dark. once it got too dark we'd run until a few of the linemen started to puke and then we'd quit until the next morning.
of course, in this case it'll be a bunch of MBA students and we'll be locked in some room doing some stupid ass team building shit instead of beating the crap out of each other in the humid hills of appalachia. i'm not sure which is more infuriating.. that i'll have to sacrifice the greater part of the weekend for this mandatory school shit or that i'm forking over some serious change for the weekend's instructors and hotel rate.
the future may hold a return to oahu for me. i received an offer for a sweet rate for a room at a 5-star resort on the south shore. its one of those deals where they put you up for a bunch of nights in order to get you to sit through a timeshare sales pitch. me and a homey did something similar a little while ago in order to stay at and play golf at one of those swank resorts in palm springs. i learned that all you need to do to get through the pitch is to pretend to pay attention, smile occaisionally, and reluctantly decline when they try to get you to sign on the line that is dotted.
people think that hell is fire and brimstone and the devil poking you in the
butt with a pitchfork, but it's not. hell is when you should have walked
away, but you didn't.
