thanks to the generosity of your favorite despotic ruler and mine, mr. pol pot foxtrot parking lot, yours truly will be hitting up tonight's international noise conspiracy show at the palace. i know next to nothing about the genre but here's what i found in the la times...
Oh, that Scandinavian garage-punk thing is soooo 10 minutes ago! But the ideas put forth on this Swedish quintet's album "A New Morning, Changing Weather" are actually quite enduring, blending provocation and sloganeering with '60s garage-rock hooks and '70s punk fury. Indeed, few acts make tilting at windmills so much fun, evoking a British Invasion band gone mad while unflinchingly calling out the haves in their eternal battle against the have-nots.
la weekly has informed me that the opening acts will include bluebird, division of laura lee, and locust. if anyone knows anything about these bands, please share your knowledge with me. i went to jr. high with a laura lee who was something of a virtuoso on the piano.
i returned from the office yesterday evening to find a lil something waiting for me in my mail box. it was my official scores from the gmat. wasting no time, i hastily tore the envelope open and searched for my scores. the scores from the verbal and math portions were the same as previously reported, 81st percentile and 640 aggregate. on the essay portion i saw that i ranked in the 97th percentile with a 6 (out of possible 6 points). i could barely contain my delight so i expectorated an explitive-laden exclamation like "eat that shit, ya fuckin bitch!" or something of that nature just as one of my neighbors was walking down the stairs. i felt all of the blood in my body go from my cheeks to my toes and back to my cheeks in the time it took me to notice the odd look of fascination my neighbor had as she rounded the corner and exited the building.
time to get some lunch...

Congrats on the test!!! Always feels strangely good to excel on instituional exams...even when we often berate the concept of testing ones intelligence with these "national forms" over steaming cups of coffee on rainy days in a dark coffee shop that smells of sandalwood...come on, ya know you 've had the conversation...but it still feel good to know we are smart according to "them". I was obsessed with the SATs, back in high school...and AP tests...My older sister was insane when she took the LSAT untill she found she had done well...
