i wasn't in the best of moods yesterday evening after working late and getting stuck in traffic on the parking lot otherwise known as the hollywood freeway so i opted for a little culinary therapy when i got home. kkjz was playing some awesome music (notably a duet with natalie cole and diana krall and some brubeck/desmond where i could swear they played around with some of charlie parker's au privave) so i was able to lose myself in chopping and cooking. i popped the cork on a bottle of santa sylvia shiraz from the tulum valley in argentina. it was fabulous, rich and choclaty. too good, infact, which probably explains why i had to fend off a hangover with two cups of coffee this morning. last night's dinner was linguini with sauteed red onions, mushrooms and spinach, a handfull of left over salmon and homemade pesto. the pesto was a new endeavor for me but its pretty hard to fuck that up when you're working with good ingredients, namely fresh organic italian basil and polish garlic.
so i'm pretty fucking excited for this weekend. i will throw myself at the mercy of the sgla-ers and hope that they forgive me for flaking in the past this evening. saturday is game one of the world series (go angels! and yes i have jumped on this bandwagon) and sunday is MOTHERFUCKING TENACIOUS D. me and shifty are going to the anaheim house of blues for some rocket sauce and kielbasa sausages.
