today's song - "since i found my baby" by the cornelius brothers and sister rose
just wanted to share a little funk-inspired soul with all y'all on this rather overcast monday morning. the marine layer sure as hell took its sweet time buring off.
took the opportunity this weekend to chill out, dig in the crates, score some new sounds (jurassic 5, curtis mayfield, john pizzarelli, and the new true romance dvd), get stupid and even did a little cleaning. also did my weekly ritual of hitting up the farmers market and spent entirely too much money at the grocery store. but my refridgerator no longer feels insufficient as it is stocked with all kinds of goodies. last night i tried doing something a little different with my steak. rather than season the whole thing with all the same stuff, i put one side of the meat in a lil bit of balsamic and dry rubbed the other side with seasoned salt, rosemary and fresh garlic. i'd do it again tonight if not for the pork chops that i'm marinating right now.
coming back from the farmers market on sunday i saw this really cute girl with the coolest pink hair standing on the hollywood blvd, directly across from me, waiting, like me, for the signal to change. i assured myself by thinking that this girl didn't know that i'm a numbnuts stumblefuck and that perhaps i could put on a rare display of charm and invite her to get a burrito supreme (tenacious d style) with me. it must not have been in the cards because as i was going to smile and compliment ms. rock star on her awesome hair, some ranting homeless woman stepped in between us and started being her weird self. ms. rock star turned and hustled off as i was left trying not to inhale in the aromas of said crazy homeless lady. so it was me and the burrito supreme and no cutie with pink hair. i guess i can take heart in the fact that she was walking through the hood and is hopefully local, like me. so my senses are fine tuned and my ass is on look out for pink hair.
time to get back to work. or as the cornelius brothers sang...
sha-la-la!

I just had quiche around 6:30a fro breakfast and I am already hungering for pork chops...Have you ever had those little thin sliced boneless ones with breakfast? Kinda southern to eat chops for breakfast, but really quite nice. I love me some pork.
