Wow. I am in a Cyber Comic cafe on the 12th floor of a building surrounded my miles and miles of the city and a cemetary smack dab in the middle of it all crowded in the smallest space with hundreds and hundreds of tombstones that I saw from the elevator. This place is crazy and huge. On one side are tons of dark, warm cubicles with computers and on the other side are rows and rows and ROWS of comic books. There is a refreshment area with free drinks and a phone in my cubicle to order food from the front desk or ask question (which I already used to ask how to change the characters on the keyboard).

It is snowing outside and everyone walking by has an umbrella. There are a lot of people walking by. Thats a lot of umbrellas. I really stand out without one. Or maybe its my bright red, skinned muppet, fur jacket.

I have seen 2 starbucks in the 10 blocks I have walked from my apartment to here, on one side. The employees spoke english and the menu was readable so I went in, which is usually against my American ways. Starbucks is, I mean.

My apartment is too small to play Twister in. It is teenytiny. There is a super narrow hallway with a small sink and mini fridge off of it leading to a small room with a full size bed, a full size T.V., a small desk and chair and a small closet. The bathroom is off of the narrow hall and has a large square, plastic bathing container for you to stand in during your shower and I guess bathe in, although it would feel more like I was a part of a witches stew by the shape of it. It is nice though and the heater works and there is a tiny little deck you can get to if you crawl over my bed. On it is a miniature little washmashine with directions all in Japanese of course and some hanging line to dry my clothes in the snow.

I went to the club where I will be working last night and sat in on a meeting they were having. I was trying to pick up on some of the language, like just even trying to recognize words, but they sure do talk fast so I just took in my surroundings and studied the people I`ll be working with. This a pretty cool place. Small, of course. Really small. There are only 3 dancers and the rest of the girls are hostesses. There are about 12 hostesses. It is more of a lounge. The hostesses all wear evening gowns and sit with the clientelle, who by the way are all in suits. It is a lounge atmosphere. There is one other girl from America, one girl from Mexico, one from Brasil, one from Vancouver BC and one from Romania. The rest are from Japan. They are all beauties and all speak some English. After the meeting the manager brought in Sushi plates for each of us. I was thankfull to be proficient with chop sticks. Tonight I start work, which is just a few blocks from my apartment.

I read the book Kite Runner on the airplane and highly recommend it. I also read the book The Secret Life of Bees yesterday and would only recommend it to teenagers or if it lying around your house and you want something simple and sweet. I am getting a little nervous looking at my unread stack of books shrink so quick, so soon. Not that I expect to read the whole time I am here, just often smile

I can see that this trip is going to be different from the rest in that I will be truly on my own. In Guam I lived in house of other girls. In Paris I had the worst girls for roomates ever so I ended up spending a lot of time with other friends I met there and plus Miles was there, although I hardly ever saw him. Here I live alone. For one month. I am always surrounded by people at home. Always. I think that maybe I don`t have a chance to recognise my thoughts and let them generate to fullness when I interact with others during all my waking moments. But when I think of this now, I know that when I get home I wouldn`t want it any other way, it:s just good to have this time out.
