She's back. I can't believe it.
Miguel's sweet little black cat went missing about 6 weeks ago - just disappeared. Miguel has been heartbroke and had put up signs and rewards for her return.
Today I walked outside to empty the garbage and she came walking around the side of the house, I opened the door and she walked right in. I almost didn't recognize her. She's really messed up. There is no sound coming out when she tried to meow, she has no fur along her spine in a strip that T's at the back towards her tail and also none in a strip down the inside of one back leg. She can hardly breath and is breathing with her mouth open, you can see how difficult it is for her. Also her front and back claws are dull...
I was careful to not try to pick her up or scare her because I have no idea what has happened to her and thought she might be skittish. She seems like she's coming out of a daze, kinda slow but not newly hurt. I'm just guessing.
Miguel is on his way to the vet with her right now. Man, he couldn't believe it when I called and told him Sarge came home and then couldn't believe it again when he got home and saw the condition she's in. I hope they can help her breath better. What was really weird were the shave markings and the absense of new or old bleeding injuries. I really hope she wasn't taken by some weirdo. Will know soon and give an update. Poor sweet Sargie. She was happy to be home though.

Miguel just returned with Sargie who is breathing noticeably better, having had a lot of fluid drained from her lungs. She was also given a bit of IV fluids which also helped. They didn't want to give her too much to avoid shock since she is so very dehydrated. Before she disappeared we had just taken her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a thyroid condition and a small amount of fluid around her lungs. She was to be taking medicine on a daily basis and needed to have a constant supply of fresh, cold water (the latter conditions were her very avid preferences).
Anyway, the Vet didn't speculate with us on the missing hair but mentioned either catnapping weirdness or getting trapped inside something and escaping.....what do you think? It just seems like if she were caught in something or rubbed herself close enough to something that it would shear all her hair off, she would also have at least a small skin abrasion as well.
The really great part is that she is purring really loud right now. It's pretty amazing to have her back. Pretty unusual and wonderful when a person or creature you love is lost then found again.
