The last two nights I have had the weirdest dreams.
Last night I dreamt I was in a beautiful house on the cliffs overlooking the sea. I was with my family and it was night. Out the window we saw a full moon engulfed in brilliant, fiery blue flames that turned the sky around the moon, turbulent and shimmery like a fierce mirage. There was panic and urgency as we knew we had little time to save ourselves before this moonstorm reached earth. We were scrambling and had made it into the basement of the house, maybe to create a fortress from the raging winds and rains that were now upon us. The storm ingulfed the sea and air and water was coming in through the windows and below the door and we couldn't stop it and then the house started to move and suddenly began to slide down the cliffside with us still inside it. It was terrifyiing. Then the next thing I knew, I was in the water with my family amidst so much debris. Everything around us destroyed and overturned but the storm subsided. We are looking up at the cliffside marveling at our amazing fortune that the house had stopped short from falling into the sea and that we had survived.
The night before I woke up so tired because I felt like I had spent the entire night in Mexico scrubbing an old sick womans mattress with her grandchildren! All night long! This mattress was so caked on with old blood and body secretions all over. I remember feeling stressed that I would not even come close to getting the seams clean and that the water was so brown. And then the phone rang, only the phone was like 10 feet up on the wall and was one of those older kinds that had the receiver attached with a long coiled cord. I coulnd't reach it but the grandaughter leapt, bounced down a couple of times coming up higher each time until she was able to knock it off and I caught it. It was my dad. I told him where I was and what I was doing and he screamed at me GET OUT OF THERE, YOU ARE GOING TO GET TUBERCULOSIS!!! And it dawned on me that he was right and that they didn't have any gloves anyway. So they put a sheet on and brought the old women back her bed, Then they slipped a wide flat plastic sheet with a little lip on it, underneath her bare skin and applied a dab of salve to her tailbone and explained this was to assist her nurses in changing her bed pans. And finally I woke up and was off duty.
You know, they are both pretty stressful dreams. I am really happy right now but I have been planning for this Grand Canyon trip and worrying about money a little bit. Before I leave on the 14th I have to have this month and next months rent covered which I should be able to do...I guess big trips are just like that. Plus I really want to make sure I look into all the best options for my river gear and know that I still have a lot to do in that department. This trip will be so amazing. I can't even believe how lucky I am to be a part of a group of people who get to travel 68 miles down the Colorado river on a permit that takes 14 years on a waiting list to acquire! I am so lucky. Now, if a person wants to get a permit to someday raft the river, they have to enter a lottery and MAY BE granted on to the waiting list. If you think you may ever want to do this look into it now, cause if you wait you may be 45 or 70 years old before you get to actually see it through.
I have 2 new favorite artists to add to my list. Check out our very own Volks who paints beautifully. And while you are looking around, for sure go see the works of Brian Viveros. While at SEAF this past weekend I saw and fell in love with his paintings. They are both great, check them out.
Well, though I haven't really updated in many words lately I sure had plenty to talk about tonight. Have sweet dreams everyone.
Love,
Blyss

Had a conference in Seattle this weekend and was going to ask you guys out for some Elysian, but cancelled at the last minute...
Glad you're going on this trip, I love the river and didn't plan on developing any new jealousies when I logged on tonight. Oh, well.
