_sarah_:
I looooove the train. I have a very, very short attention span when it comes to driving, so the train is perfect. It's cheaper, I don't have to put up with traffic, I don't have to worry about parking, and I can read, sew, write, listen to music, drink alcohol, etc. It's wonderful, and the scenery is beautiful.

Well, until we get to Gary. wink

Insanity would have been a great theme. I can think of some fabulous songs. I'd have done two discs -- Mania and Depression. smile
_sarah_:
Oh, and it costs $43 to fill my tank in Ann Arbor right now. In Chicago, it would be close to $50. (I can't imagine how this is affecting you. I've never been so happy to have a compact car).

Anyway, figure in close to a tank to get there and drive around, a fill-up to get home, and then another fill-up once I got home... You bet your ASS I'd rather pay $50 for the train. $150 for gas? Fuck that. I can FLY for $90. surreal

how was your weekend?

Apparently not as good as yours.

The exchange was great and your CDs made it there.. which was more then I can say for a few people who actually came to the event.

_sarah_:
The tickets weren't bad. I bought them only a few days before I left, so I thought they'd be pricey. Instead, I paid $73 for the round-trip. (It would have been $53 if I'd scheduled in advance). If I had gone home on Monday, I'd have paid about $40 total. Also, with AAA, I get a 10% discount. When you compare those prices to gas for a 4.5-hour round-trip, I win. wink And I didn't have to deal with parking!

Flights were about $130 at that point. I've noticed that if you book in advance, flights from Midway to Detroit (and vice versa) are either the same or comparable to Amtrak tickets, depending on the days you fly. I've seen them go for about $80 round-trip. I'll probably fly next time since I haven't flown anywhere in so long.

I would have rather have gone to Pancho Pistola's (?) than Bennigan's because one thing I love about Chicago is the authentic Mexican food, but we were kind of short on time and such. We decided to eat near the station, which ended up being kismit since I got to see the banner for the art exhibit. love

I don't have an iPod or discman, unfortunately. An iPod is my next "me me me me" purchase. biggrin I had a discman with an adaptor and stuff, but it started acting all stupid back in February, which is why I bought the mp3 player for my car.

we missed you, it was a really good time. i'm excited about yr mix, too - it looks super cool.

there were some other no-shows, and so i didn't get to see what was done with my theme, but most everyone seems to have had a lot of fun with the idea.
_sarah_:
Your mix looks great. I recognized most of the songs on "Martini". smile Yay for Tito Puente and "Girl from Ipanema". The funny thing was, I'd been singing "Girl from Ipanema" earlier that day, since Crim and I walked past the Daley Center on our way to dinner. biggrin
