Went out to Neighbors with my friend Holly tonight, though I had to be home early because I gots ta get up at 6AM every weekday now. 
The new job is really busy, which is pretty tiring, but the day goes by relaly fast and the pay is better than anything I've had before, so yay for that.
Things are generally going pretty good though. i'm enjoying the freedom of being single again. I have to really think about what I'm going to do on a given night rather than just defaulting to hanging out with the person I'm with. And it's nice to be able to say 'Hey, I'm single and I want to stay single but that doesn't mean we can't be friends and fool around" rather than "I'm in an open relationship" which some people aren't cool with.
That said, I do still feel a bit like I'm putting my life back together, though not in a freaky sad way, more just that I've had a big freaking very consistent point of reference for the last three years that isn't really there anymore. Me and the ex are getting along really well though, which is good because I haven't had very good luck with break ups before but I was younger then and didn't have my head screwed on quite as well.
Other stuff, I'm finally gettin back into the band stuff. I've got a fun little side project thing going with Steve from the Briefs, Meredith from the Stuck-Ups and Matty the former Mea Culpa drummer where we're just doing mod / power pop stuff. We had our first practice last Sunday and learned "Nobody To Love" by the Nips (Shane McGowans's first band) and some other cool late 70s British punk / power pop stuff. I guess I'm going to be the singer / guitarist, though I'm going to avoid playing guitar when I sing as much as possible because it really got to be a limitation to what I could do onstage when I was in Mea Culpa.
I've aslo started working seriously on putting together the "real" band with my friend Brooke. We've been writing songs together and they sound awesome so far. Really stylistically diverse and Brooke has an incredible ear for improvising cool counter melodies. I've ran the idea of the band past a few of my other musician friends and they seem excited about it. It would be great to have something like The Mekons that has a lot of people putting their input into it and is really sharp and diverse and fun and can last a long time. I learned too late with Mea Culpa that I get bored fast when I feel boxed into one genre.
Anyway, that's enough for now. Time for bed.
