Hmm. I too liked Carrey in Eternal Sunshine, but I'd hardly call myself a fan. I think he can be a useful and even talented actor when he's got the right material and someone to keep him from stooging. In the Lemony Snickett film it looks like they let him stooge to his heart's content. In some ways it's a bit like Mike Meyers in recent roles; a talented comedic actor whose stooging probably seems much funnier on set while he's improvising like mad. I don't know. But then it was a friend and not me who had the really bad reaction to the news.

I ripped into a friend about 5 years ago that as far as I was concerned I never wanted to see again, so if he didn't understand that was his problem. He hasn't tried to contact me since. I've talked about my friend Steve in my journals, I've ripped into him in the past, but since we've known each other so long, he always comes around again and we become friends again. Other friends have ripped into me, and I've ripped into them, but if I wanted to stay friends, I tended to approach them anywhere in between 3 days and 2 weeks, depending on how big the words were... and I've kept them as friends.
