A random occurance in a bookstore:
In Borders on Block E in Minneapolis, which is on the second floor, I was going to see The Village in the theatre on the third floor. I walked up to the cashier, and I put my magazine on the counter. It was a design magazine and had an old-fashioned photograph of a typically happy American family circa 1950's. She remarked about how they were content, and how they must have had "family values."
"What are those anyway? Family values are, we say 'hello' we say 'thank you' we be polite," she chuckled and trailed off.
"It's a fickle thing," I replied.
She, "It certainly is, personally I don't know what they are anymore."
Me, "Well, if you're ever curious, just check out what's playing upstairs."
It was cute.
