I totally agree with you... We talked about sex education in my philosophy of education class a few weeks ago. There is a huge problem in the catholic school system with their flagrant denial that kids are actually going to have sex regardless of how much they are told not to. I proposed that if the school boards are so uncomfortable with having the teachers facilitate a sex education class that has all of the alternatives to abstinance fully covered, then perhaps they should bring in an impartial third party, such as a public health nurse. I really don't think that making girls carry around a sack of flour or a baby think it over, is a good deterant either, but being well informed is the best defence naturally.
