So this woman walks into my dining room, holding a pair of my underpants. They're souvenir boxers from a Las Vegas hotel/casino. The underwear have a pattern of alternating white jolly rogers and pirates printed on black cotton. Essentially "period underwear" for men, third-string boxers inappropriate for impressing women. "Only to be worn within a commited relationship."

I'm standing with my roommate, Brian, talking next...

Finished reading "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius" last night. I love a book that reminds you how brief and vulnerable human life is and how those who idly watch life pass are killing themselves. Sorry to get heavy, but this book kicked my ass.eeek

I went through a volunteer training program for Hospice (an organization that helps terminally ill people through their final stage...

"Ball n' Chain"

So I gave up drinking two years ago. Not a drop since July '01. I feel much more lucid and grounded now than when my weeks consisted of drinking Johnny Walker, idolizing TomWaits, and emulating Hunter Thompson (still idolize Waits, however)... so why did my buddy have to procure a bottle of Absinthe and offer me some?

God I'd love to spend...

"hexavelent chromium"??? shit, don't you trip on some of that stuff? like delivering it "helluva chromium". haha

okay, it's early for me. cut me some slack.

yeah, you'd think i'd be on to the crazy shit my body does to my head by now. between blood sugar issues and my neck, i'm all over the place sometimes! sheesh. it really is fascinating, though. i try to explain it to others sometimes, to help them to not be so bitchy or something, but they just don't seem to appreciate my input! haha

my heart is....the same. time will do the work that i can't. i'm not a very patient person, though.

I gave my number to a girl I was waiting on tonight.smile

...First time in my 6 years of waiting tables.

Usually, I think it's tacky to ask a customer out. I work in fine, Italian dining and take it seriously...but she would not stop smiling at me.

I also find the situation pretty dodgy. I mean, do you say, "Would you like to see...

Yeah, I'm seeing Mars Volta in L.A. in a couple weeks @ the Ford Theatre. I feel like I need to really go to a lot of shows to make up for ATP's being cancelled (fuckers!) Don't know anyone well enough in the SD area to hit up for lodgings, so I'll see how that goes, there's still a month. smile
scylla:
Yeah, I was watching some of the earlier Batmans and was struck by the darkness, maturity of themes, etc... like the one where Harley Quinn & Ivy move in together, and the brutal mental/emotional abuse the Joker piles on her... that shit went right over my head when I was 9, but it's quite disturbing to think about that... or another one with lots of allusions to male prostitution. Damn cartoons must've warped my mind, good thing I balanced it with some Animaniacs, or whatever that was run with.

Yeah, the long distance is lame... that's really cool you were able to maintain the relationship, though. When I get back to school, I guess it's compensated for by the fact that we get to share pretty close quarters, but meh, in any case! MEH!

*Addendum 11:30 PM*

Passed out while reading, "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius." Woke up with "Don't Stop Believing" (Journey) in my head (not sure why). Had to download it from Limewire. Easily one of the wankiest songs ever, but the song fucking kills me. Every time I hear the piano riff and Steve Perry's voice, I have to take a knee. smile

Am I dating...

Just a bulletin to give a grand, cordial, SG-style welcome to my good friend and roommate (SG username fortiesandbooks)...a true dilletante, reader of fancy books, "setter of picks," inna-leck-shual, and courageous owner of a voluminous cranial structure (yes, we are both Limey and the same age...to the day).

Check his profile out;

he's in full effect. wink

Fun With Anglo-Saxon Genetics: Part 2

I first considered Anglo-Saxon head sizes when I rented "So I Married An Axe Murderer" some years back. I thought the whole, "Heed, move!" thing was a stroke of genius, but pigeonholed it as a comedic tangent.

Then my roommate moved in a few months ago. He's Irish/British/Whatever. It was around St. Pat's so we were trying to milk...

I've finally succumbed to the reality of my vampyrism. I don't mean this in any sort of goth or fashionable way...more in a legitimately porphyric way. smile

Sunlight is poison. I misplaced my sunglasses a week ago and was forced to go out into daylight without them. I felt like a mole emerging from a burrow after an entire life spent in soil strata...all confused and...

I SAID HOT DAMN! We've actually finished the movie trailer for my buddy's film class. smilesmilesmilesmilesmile

I estimate around 50-60 hours of work for 5 minutes of film.

My only regret is the professor wanted raw footage as well and all our raw footage includes me swearing. It's a melange of bad language, if you will. Camera pans left..."Fuck"...tracking shot..."God Damnit"...Medium close-up..."Fucking shit box"...Master Shot..."Son of...

Learning Final Cut Pro reminds me of first encountering a computer in third grade.

The FCP learning process evolves as follows:

1. I experience a problem due to lack of familiarity with the program.

2. I get confused and think I'm losing my god damned mind.

3. Maybe I've had too much coffee.

4. Maybe I'm just a horrible editor.

5. I look on SG...
