My grandma passed away very early Thursday morning. She was surrounded by all of her children and her husband and from what my mom told me, it was the perfect way for her to go. I'm so glad that I went Tuesday to see her, that was my time to say goodbye to her.
My aunts were wanting me to be the person in charge of the picture display that would be at the visitation, but Grandpa told me that they didn't want that, that if anything it would be very very simple. His goal for this whole thing is to keep it simple, keep it basic, no fuss. Which is exactly how my grandma would want it. So instead I made an album. I had scanned all of the old pictures of grandma and took pictures of the quilts she made, her needle work, her sewing machine, the sweaters she knitted, and then I made composites of all the pictures and put them into a 10 page (20 front and back) album. And it was perfect. I'll probably post a few of the pages for you to see here. She was lovely.
Monday is the funeral. I'm spending as much time as possible with family. This afternoon I'm helping my cousin find an outfit for the funeral that would cover her full leg brace. I'm thinking a maxi dress would be perfect and I actually found some on Kmart's website, and some even have sleeves, which would be perfect for her crutches. So hopefully they'll have those dresses at the one in our town.
