I want to thank you all for the support. And since so many of you have sent similar wonderful messages of encouragement & fellow disgust over the way our society can damage girls' self-esteem & body image, I felt it was important to share this with all of you. I was given a personal copy of this book by a modestly successful singer back in the late 90's. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know since I already LIVED IT. But it is a GREAT book regardless & I was happy to hear a few years later that some schools had started making it part of the curriculum! Although just as disheartened to overhear some teenage boys getting their schoolbooks at the bookstore I was working at & hearing one of them say to another one "oh i had to read that godawful book last year. wah wah wah girls have it rough. boring" If i hadn't needed that summer job I woulda gone over an aisle & bitchslapped that lil turd.
