I'm at a starbucks in downtown Denver right now. There's this way cute geeky as hell blonde girl in front of me with a waist that can't be more than 20" around. I love girls with tinsy waists. Well I just love tinsy women. Ordinarily I don't see glasses as attractive as most people do but she wears these things really well.

She's punching keys away like there's no tomorrow (dude, this babe types even faster than I do) on this inspiron on vista that's got a neat animated matrix background. I'm fully in love. Bummer I already checked out of my super super ultra nice hotel room that I could have brought her to. In a few minutes she'll scamper off, never to be seen again.

Dude this was seriously the nicest hotel I've ever seen. The bed was awesome. Thus far every single bed I've ever been in I've laid on I've always ended up getting up after a reasonably short amount of time and torn the sheet and comforter off and slept on them on the floor. This bed, however, bloody hell. I never wanted to get out of it. In fact I went to sleep at 2pm and slept solid up until Daleyy called me at 6pm and then not long after she konked out at around 8 er so fell back asleep and wasn't up much at all until 6:30am. I tried going into chat a few times through the night and probably spent like an hour total doing that, but for like 99.9% of the night I was konked out cold as ice the whole night (actually I was warm as can be, what with the flawlessly working climate control in the room and the huge down comforters).

Each time I tried to go into chat I tryied using the wireless that I paid $13 for but never worked. I think they have like one access point and it's probably in the lobby. I was on the 6th floor. The connection fucking sucked. I ended up using my GPRS card the whole time. BiTMAP put it best when he said "Dude, the latency on your cam is fucking ridiculous. Like 20 seconds."

The building was built in the 1800s. Walking through the place was like walking through the Titanic. Everything was gorgeous and perfectly maintained. It was strange being in a building that was built before lightbulbs were being utilized and watching tv on a huge ass LCD screen that seriously had to cost more than my brothers brand new car. In fact everything in the whole room was brand new. Except the room. One thing that was really unusual was that the towels and wash cloths were made in America. When's the last time you saw any towels or washcloths that were made in U.S.A., let along some in a hotel.

My laptop is being a not-so-nice laptop.

I think the driver for the GPRS card is corrupted maybe. Perhaps reinstalling it might help. I'd kindo like to just redo the entire windows install though. I don't like at all when other people do my installs. I like to have full control over my windows setup and have only what i use installed and make sure that it gets installed right (for example I always clock down the cpu and memory when I'm doing installs). I don't have the cdrom for this laptop though. It probably costs more than the whole laptop just for the cdrom used on ebay.

The laptop I have I got as a retired government Itronix IX250 GObook for $110 buy it now on ebay with a 20gb hdd, a screamin 128mb of ram and a celeron 850 cpu. These machines have a 13" touchscreen display, something that's just crucial if you're gonna use a computer in your car.

Random side note: That girl has the cutest sneezes I've ever heard from a grown woman.

There's a few reasons I had to get this machine. One, it's just barely fast enough to go into chat (meaning it's the cheapest machine you can get to go in there), also it's got the touchscreen (something that if you've never used you really don't know what you're missing) but above all it's a fully rugged laptop. What that means is that you can drop it 30 times 90cm onto plywood over concrete and it won't sustain any damage whatsoever. The hard drive is shock mounted in gel in a stainless steel fireproof box similar to the toughbooks. The keybaord is glow in the dark and spill proof. If you spill soda on it just put the whole thing in the sink and turn on the water to wash off the sugars. Don't even have to turn the machine off. Except for the fact that it's half the price and built with better quality, it's pretty much identical to a toughbook with one exception. The gobooks have silicone seals around all of the covers on the bottom. The side covers, like the toughbooks, have the sealing foam on it too. The coolest thing about this laptop is you can do spacam or poolcam and drop it in the spa and pull it out without it being damaged at all. Neither the water or the chlorine will hurt it.

The bummer thing: I didn't do the windows install. So it's unstable. Oh, one other thing, and this REALLY pisses me off. the thing will just shut off without warning. The reason is simply because the power supply I have doesn't have enough juice to power it. It's a cheap as generic one that I had handy (the auction didn't include a power supply, just the laptop). I'm sure as soon as I get a beefier power supply this won't be an issue and it'll be working flawless as can be. In the mean time though, it can be a total pain in the ass and right in the middle of driving cam it'll shut off. It won't tell me that it's stopped using the power supply and is running on batteries. The icon is still the same thing saying it's plugged in. Frustrating as hell.

But all in all it's a really fucking bad ass laptop. It's the best laptop I've ever used. Seriously. The only real issue about it: Needs more poke. I'm thinking as soon as I get home I'll get the quicker one of these. I know i won't be able to get it for anywhere near the screamin deal that this one was, but still I'd like to have a machine with a bit more speed. biggrin
