My principle reason for using SG was as a spot I could update my personal journal, in a mostly private setting, and maybe get some, but not by request, level headed 3rd party opinion on... my shit and junk... love, life and laundry... and my fickle understanding of the existential tuples within myself. The fact that someone might read it only fuelled an editing mentality that would make the whole process a bit more interesting for future me. This all started on Livejournal in those heady late 90s days of wearing more makeup than your girlfriend and being unaware of a scene to be a part of, moved to myspace just in time to see Lily Allen rise and fall, then here... who knows where it will end up next.
But as I have detailed in the past the scene behind the naked ladies is not always a pretty one and it feels less and less private and personal on a daily basis. A wise SG member said to me some months ago... people use myspace and facebook to keep up with, and chat to, existing friends and use SG to make new ones... and while I have made some great friends on SG, this wasn't my aim... I don't need distance in my life. I can be a pretty obsesive and open guy which equals a kind of ritual and addictive suicide online, where anywhere else it wins you gold stars. I just don't feel at home here.
The more I hear from the models on this site the more my brow furrows and dissaproving my opinion is of the whole game to. I'm starting to understand the Courtney Love links now and there's no place in my life for those kind of levels of insecurity leading to... too much to detail.
I have made a few promises to people here I intend to keep, so I'm not going totally AWOL and hunting wolverines in eastern Russia (more's the pity). I have art I plan to buy, music I want to play and people I will continue to see. Also the camera phone images folder is a lot easier to deal with than the photobucket one .
Nottingham based nursery sign... look... it's a Bee... this made me happy .
Took this driving out of Birmingham down to Somerset... Seemed rather poignant... biblical rainbow meanings and green lights...
Just thought it looked cool in a star wars way, lol... can you guess what it is?
Funny sign outside an off licence in Birmingham... I knew a nuts Irish poet and wannabe philosopher who lived a few streets down from this shop. She would pass it every day, twice, going to and from the university. She was an alcoholic. Nobody will ever be able to judge the cause and effect of this. But we often wonder.
Hope ya'll had a good Christmas, I did . Although I feel no need to blog about it. My family and I will be talking bout these things for awhile.
Here's something I recorded a little while back after becoming frustrated I had no good mic to record acoustically with... daft. There are mics everywhere....... not always great ones though.
Lookit... the above is a simplified diagram obviously, but... It is the priciple of operation for both a microphone and a speaker... Either... The input signal excites the coil and the induced magneting field 'wobbles' the diaphram (a speaker) or the diaphram 'wobbles' and induces a magnetic field in the coil and, therefore, an output signal. This is how I recorded most of my... well anything, before I realised I had a mic on my camera and had bought the camera, obviously.
Try it.... plus your headphones into your mic jack in the front of your computer and use the left speaker (has to be so that the right output lines up with the right input in the internal hardware), in most small headphones there is a diaphram small enough to be effected by the low amplitude of your voice. It's pretty characterful huh?
Anyway... I digress... I made a song... ripped the audio for an mp3 and played with the whole thing in Ableton to make it sound like I didn't record it in a bedroom with a camera ... and put it on youtube for giggles...
Oh... I keep looking at the floor because that's where the lyric sheet is and my face is out of shot because, it didn't need to be there for the audio lol...
