Ok this MOSTLY applies to those of you in NY, but everyone can pitch in if you so desire.

Some of you know this and some of you don't, but after I'm liberated from my steady employment here at Sopranos I'm going to go to Ghana (that's in Africa!) to help build a school in the rural village of Kenyasi, No. 1.

You know. Good...

Give me dive bars, and cheap drinks, and converse sneakers and jeans.

Give me red wine and good conversation and dinners that last four hours.

Give me the lower east side. give me 10 bands playing in 10 venues on the same street.

Give me the Jersey shore. Give me heart and soul. Give me a car and an open road.

Give me wide open...

Do you fit in the package?
severus:
Oh, THAT was witty my friend!

I'm OK. A bit anxious, a bit restless, um... but some things are cool! Like DebraJean might put up some of my photos in her art gallery, she's always been one of my favorites on this site, I love her sets, the photographs are soooo beautiful in many of the later ones. Oh... and I got a mountain vacation in March planned. And... blabla, need more sleep, less worry and now I am finishing my tea and have a guy calling me up who's excuse for not calling me last week was that his phone went into the ocean between Sweden and Finland on his work trip so my number was swimming with the fish. Yeah. Isn't THAT charming? Guys suck. Well, you don't. kiss

Good intentions.

Not really worth much, are they?

I had every intention of attending the tattoo convention this weekend. I really, really wanted to. I had a killer week at work, though. I started almost everyday at 5:30 or 6 and got home around midnight. And when I tried getting up to make the drive to Philly my body kept asking "Where the fuck do...

Molly Ivins has died.

For those of you who don't know Molly Ivins she was a Texas author, columnist, and general thorn in the side of the Bush family. She was mercilessly funny, honest and a much needed voice of reason. Some of her stuff can be read here.

She'll be missed.

Wanna hear a nice story? I read today that a Private Shannon...

Ok, hear me out for a second:

Don't you think it's strange that there are no real musical trends or movements this decade?
Each decade of the past century had distinct and recognizable styles, innovations and movements. I can't think of any significant development in music this decade. The 50's introduced rock n' roll, the 60's and early 70's explored the idea of what rock...

I just found this this morning going through some old files. It's the opening scene of a musical I wrote about working at the mall. Well it was a musical/murder mystery/epic statement on the quiet despiration of modern life.

or not. whateva

either way, just to point out how little I had to do a few years ago, here's the opening scene: (Btw: "V.O." means...

Today was Martin Luther King's Birthday.

If you turned on the TV or the radio you might have heard a clip of Dr. King's "I Have A Dream" speech, but my favorite King speech is actually his "I Have Seen The Promised Land" speech-delived ONE day before he was killed.

Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But...

I couldn't deny the great fortune I've had through 34+ years. It'll all end at some point---all things do---but I'm going to enjoy the ride and keep it going as best I can. Of course, so much of my luck has been the circumstances around and nothing to do with my innate skills or abilities. Thus, I'm kind of like GWB...only I'm not a complete asshole.

The Palm Springs version of sedate seduces me every time. I can't tell you how much I like it more than Vegas at this point. When were you last in PS?

Very well said, he was truly a great man in so many respects - your journal is a call to action, one I hope is heeded.

Ok, for no good reason (other than a possible nod to "High Fidelity") I've decided that off the top of my head this is my top 10 list of favorite NY bands/musicians:

2. The New York Dolls
3. The Velvet Underground
4. Public Enemy
5. Run DMC
6. Blondie
7. The Beastie Boys

2006 RIP

So this is the time of year when all sorts of media outlets start their year end lists. Time magazine tells me that I'm the Person of the Year (as long as I have a computer that is) because of my power to blog about my meaningless opinions or put videos of teenagers falling down on YouTube. It's a glorious world we live...

Greetings again, sir!

My 2007 has thus far been quite agreeable. I'm not much looking forward to this apparent snow we'll be receiving in Seattle this evening, but so be it. I had hoped I'd left that damned white stuff behind when I moved here. Apparently, if I wanted mild winters, I should have moved back to New Jersey, though!

How's your new year been?

I've been all sorts of busy, but until I get my act together please enjoy this holiday tale by David Sedaris.

Six To Eight Black Men
By David Sedaris

A heartwarming tale of Christmas in a foreign land where, if you've
been naughty, Saint Nick and his friends give you an ass-whuppin'.

I've never been much for guidebooks, so when trying to get my
bearings...
