Weekends are good, aren't they?

Went to Florida for the weekend and just got back to NY in time to see a postal worker having a mental breakdown. There was an accident of some sort on the 59th Street Bridge and there was complete gridlock all around the bridge. It was morning rush hour and everyone had somewhere to be and we weren't moving at all. For about 20 minutes. So this guy in a mail truck next to me leans on his born and keeps it down. Just sits here holding his horn down. And the front of his mail truck was RIGHT next to my car and after about a minute I thought my head was gonna explode. So I got OUT of my car and walked over to his truck and said, "I'm BEGGING you to let go of that horn."

And he looked at me all red faced and crazy-eyed and screams, "NO! THE FUCKING TRAFFIC ISN"T MOVING!"

So I backed away and got in my car and drove over the curb and down the SIDEWALK to the next intersection.

I was not about to get shot this morning.

I'm doing pretty good, actually. Getting vaguely domesticated lately. I've been dating a guy who actually seems to give a shit about a lot of the same things and actually DOES something about it, like giving presentations to Episcopal Churches about racial diversity or attending training seminars about internalized superiority or racism or sexism or homophobia or whatever, and yet he somehow manages NOT to be a rampaging, self-righteous prick, like some PC people can be. We'll see how my sense of humor ends of going over, because I can be pretty raunchy sometimes & if I were a man, I'd probably get punched. Like how we just watched "Lost in Translation" & after pointing out all the deep, meaningful stuff I liked about the movie, I add: "Plus, you gotta love a movie where Scarlett Johannsen is in her undies at least 2/3 of the time. I mean, those opening credits-- MAN!" He admitted he wants to start watching the first season of Buffy. He's already a Firefly fan, so I'm kinda thinking it's a given that he'll get addicted to that, too.

So, that's pretty much how I am-- in la-la land, learning how to date a non-asshole (never really done THAT before!) and trying to get my ass to make some new artwork (and forget any stress from the ol' day job).

How have you been, other than fleeing for your life? Your previous entry seemed pretty out of sorts as well. Existential angst? Possibly a tapeworm? tongue (Luckily, I think they can get rid of tapeworms these days!!) That is funny you went to Tampa. I'm starting to think nothing else in FLA actually exists. The only friend I have here who used to live in Florida was actually from Tampa as well. SPOOKY! surreal I'll keep you posted if I ever head down there. A lot of times, my bro comes here to visit since more of us are still in MO. Plus, I get the impression some of his friends might be a little sleazy. frown Dunno.
