Alas, it turned out the canned ham was just a rumor. There were an assortment of presents, just enough so that most people got one and people who didn't get one could feel it really keenly. I got a little box with tea and cookies and whatnot. Much better than ham.

My other present last night was a lovely little flat tire. I drove over a curb, which, okay, I do a lot, and I heard a louder sound than usual, and I opened my car door and leaned out and lo and behold, there it was. So smart me thinks, well, I'm sure it'll last me for a little while, so I keep driving. After a few blocks all I can hear is the clunkclunkclunkclunk of the rim on concrete. But I made it downtown, called AAA, hung out in a bar until they got there, and then the guy had it changed in like two minutes.

So that was my adventure last night. All's well that ends well, except that now I have to buy a new tire, on top of all the other things I have to buy that I can in no way afford.
Gonna have to figure something out.
