Insanely busy. Have two deadlines today, and a major deadline in a week from now -- none of which I would really mind if I knew the checks were coming immediately thereafter, but that's not how freelance writing works. Publications like to hold onto the money so you can learn valuable things about yourself -- just how low your bank balance can get before you start gnawing on your own foot, that kinda thing. It builds _character_. Yes, that's what I'll tell myself.
Funny thing: I used to deploy cusswords in my writing at a rate close to that of my use of conjunctions. Hell, I may have used cusswords as conjunctions at one point; I've certainly used them plenty enough as adjectives and verbs. Recently, though, I've been doing so much writing for corporate clients that I've kinda lost the ability to swear, at least in writing; last week, an editor sent back one of my stories with instructions to "dirty this up a bit." And that, savage reader, is fucked up.
