I'm going to start gauging my life by quarters.

As I look back on 2004, I can very easily focus on the many positives. I've said 2004 was a good year to a good number of people. That's not to say there weren't rough spots but, come on! We're talking twelve months of danger and intrigue! Some unfortunate shit is bound to occur.

I made my requisite New Year's resolutions in January with the intent of working out the few rough spots from the prior year. Kind of like editing a term paper. I'm not turning in my life's essay until I can be assured of an A.

After talking to a friend the other day, however, I realized it would be far more feasible to deal with revision and self-analysis on a quarterly basis. He works in the world of blah blah finance blah mutual fund in which everything is measured three months at a time. He just recently won a Q4 '04 award, no less. So that's what I'm going to do. If things are going well, as they are now... I can easily ride that out until March. If things are not going as smoothly as I would like, I have a New Q Resolution right around the corner to look forward to. And who in this world can't make a resolution stick for a paltry three months?

Yeah, I have my doubts about myself as well. But that's part of the beauty! If I do break a resolution, I don't have to feel guilty about it for nearly as long! In fact, I'm scratching all my New Year's '05 resolutions for one very profound Q1 05 resolution:

Wait until April.

Come April, y'all are going to witness a changed man!

most definitely "cheap and pathetic".
i don't know why guys do this but it makes them look pitiful and weak. [and obviously, according to my journal entry; it makes them appear ignorant]
