File this under All Kinds of Fucked Up.

On January 28th, a week from today, Death Cab's Ben Gibbard, Red House Painter Mark Kozelek, and Loaf Archer Eric Bachman will be playing a show at Great American Music Hall. Wow. Wonderful. I'm going, said I, weeks ago when the bill was announced.

The show is a Tsunami Relief benefit with all proceeds going to the Save the Children foundation. Even better. A brilliant idea, a wonderful gesture, and a good way for me and an increasing number of recently-informed friends to do something humanitarian.

One problem: will tickets still be on sale this week, post-paycheck? Maybe, maybe not. It's the chance we took and, sadly, the show sold out late last week. Death Cab is a huge draw in The City, and a Gibbard solo event was not going to hover under the radar for too very long.

I'm not upset that we couldn't get tickets. Well, I am upset I guess... but that's not the fucked up part. I knew there was a chance the show would sell out and I would miss my shot at picking up tickets, but that's just the way it goes sometimes. The absence of a Bbkaro Relief Fund sometimes makes it hard for me to contribute to relief efforts geared toward the greater good. So be it.

I hopped on craigslist, as I often do when looking for tickets to sold out shows or cheap Giants seats, and was shocked to see more than a half dozen posts from folks looking to sell extra tickets to the show.

At a profit.

Scratch that: at a considerable profit. Many of the sellers looking for over twice the face value of the ticket.

This is a benefit for victims of an Indian Ocean earthquake and resulting tsunami that killed at least 226,000 people, and left millions homeless and starving. It is one of the worst disasters in modern history.

So let's make a little money, shall we?

The performers aren't even profitting from this show. The Music Hall is donating the space. I'd be perfectly willing to spend 20, even 30 dollars extra for a single ticket if I knew the additional money was going to Save the Children...

My guess. Probably not.

Fuck.

Eventhough I will miss this place, I do need to move the hell out this state! Out of the NorthEast part of the U.S. actually!!! Maybe it will be worth the sacrfice, lol. I could always come and visit.

I love food... I think when I get rich I will have my own personal chef. Yea, that is totally a diff route your GF has taken. But what she is doing now is FUN I bet. Better than being in an office all day like me?!
