Matzo ball soup and Frangelico: If the first doesn't cure your cold, the second will make you forget it.
mooohkey:
my past experience of matzo ball soup was not good. Kind of like hardened snot balls in far too salty chicken soup!!
I am sure your matzo balls were better!
anyway, i am trying to be a positive procrastinator. I saw your postings in the diet&nut group...are you still feeling your not getting enough calories in or ooomph out of your day??
(I am a dietetics major so this is how I am trying to procrastinate positively by talking food with people!)
mooohkey:
P.S put a splash of frangelico in your coffee!

More cooking lessons. The current favorite recipe? This pastry of filo dough, fruit, and toasted almond slivers, all wrapped up and covered in fresh cinnamon-caramel sauce.

Pizza lessons seem to have been absorbed reasonably sufficiently.
Also: Just started bottling my second batch of mead. After a year and a half of ferment, it was time. This batch is darker than the last, and, more importantly, not cloudy, other than a couple bottles that pulled some lees during the bottling. Initial taste tests say it's pretty darn good.

April issue of Esquire. Bottom of page 64. Not too shabby for a little indie movie about a cranky folkie.

I just had the fortune to attend a gormet cooking class and share the Chef's attention with only four other students. It was amazing. I'm too stuffed with Chef Marc's handiwork to try out his recipes yet. Must practice this before the knowledge leaves my head... can't put anything more in stomach or I'll explode.

The generous offerings of wine during the class didn't help....

I had another job interview today. It went well, but there was one bit that threw me off at the beginning:

Interviewer: Do we have any hard deadlines?
Me: Not really. If I haven't shown up at the climbing gym by 6:30, a few people might wonder where I am.
Interviewer: You climb? Why aren't you applying at Microsoft?

Apparently MS is chock full of...

I have never climbed a wall, only a mountain.
It's basicaly, using the friction of the palms of your hands and balls of your feet to climb up a relatively smooth rock face. Since there really aren't any crevises in wich to put your hands, you rely mostly on the friction of your palms and feet.
alexsandria:
I wish I could afford to climb at a gym regularly. That would be awesome!

There's something about computer science writing that inspires tiny moments of poetry. Ecce:

Another way of thinking about the relationship between a key and a petname is this. The key is used to authenticate the entity that owns the key. The petname is used as a handle upon which to hang the trust/reliance/vulnerability data used by the human being to make authorization decisions for that...

Because of the huge number of comments on my latest set... You are receiving this comment late and it is the same comment that I am leaving everyone else as well. I usually try to thank everyone individually and much more personal like, but I would just never in a million years have the time to do that this time. So, I just want you to know that I appreciate that you took the time to comment on my new set. It was very wonderful of you, and I'm sorry that my return comment is so impersonal. However, if you want to stop by my page and say hello sometime, leave me an email, whatnot I'd love to chat. I am nice to everyone that is nice to me.

So, thank you very very much for your nice comment on my set! It is appreciated.

Happy Valentines Day!

That's better than a lot of the poetry I've read in lit magazines.

Go figure.

"Hallelujah" really is amazing. I wish he hadn't chosen to go swimming in the Mississippi that night...

What's the story with going back to school? As in, what prompted the return, and what are you wanting to study?

The only college I ever attended was a small but very well know art conservatory in Miami (New World School of the Arts) for theatre. I only stuck around for a couple of months because at the time I was living in my car and my mind was bent on traveling and not rehearsing.
So now, after a three year break, I'm going to school for anthropology, simple because I feel like I'm ready for it at this point in my life. Although I have decided to not do theatre as a major anymore, I am excited about auditioning for a play and being able to act again.

Thanks for the "getting things done" tips!

Crap! The NSA has patented the Multiverse and Tape Dispensers!

That's right folks.
They don't just monitor your phone calls to uncle Ibrahim.
They invent new and more devious tape dispensers.
Be afraid.

OMG not tape!!!

This line took me off guard:

A fund is a good tool for someone with only $50,000 in the market. But the average assets of this magazine's subscribers are upwards of $1.6 million. You folks should buy stocks directly.

Yeah, you silly millionaires! Get out of mutual funds!

The average reader of Forbes has 1.6M$ in assets? Just how many Forbes readers are there? A...

Flying to Indianapolis tomorrow for a job interview.
Have a chunk of hours in the afternoon to myself.
Anyone know what's worth doing there?

Indianapolis - First reactions

This is a staunchly midwestern town, booming with recent business. Franchises are rapidly buying up plots and the sprawl is starting to look the same as any other

I'm underdressed. Or overindividualized. (Yes, Maria, you were...

What kind of job were you interviewing for? When will you find out if you got it?
I would just tuck my hair under a scarf or something except for the fact that it's just way too big. I've had my dreads for a year and a half. They are past my shoulders now so If I put them up in a bun, they make me about 6" taller. Of course my arms don't grow to meet my new height so I end up not being able to spin above my head.
alexsandria:
I had something like that in mind. It's a good idea and it might even work. Thanks kiss
